Today my boss was talking to me and he said, "Sit down. I want to tell you a story." And that's when I realized that my almost-finished SOAP has to be made into a screenplay. Damned revelations.
And...I decided to become a writer. So, this is a blog for me--and whoever ends up reading me, hopefully--to see my progress. Right now I'm studying at Oberlin College, but I also write and read all the time, and consider writing to be my main profession.
Some of my favorite books/authors: The Elementary Particles, The Stranger, shorts by Mary Gaitskill, The Golden Ass, Honeymoon, Plato, anything by Raymond Carver, Edith Wharton, Alyce Miller, Isabel Allende, Lolita, essays by Bertrand Russell, shorts by Jhumpa Lahiri, Classics are always good; Philip Larkin, John Donne and Denise Levertov are wonderful poets.
I have a website where you can view my writing, too. It's http://writersonthemarina.jottit.com .
